Pizza Dip
I have been making this dip for quite a few years now. I've come to realize, all you really need for a good dip is, cream cheese. Seriously! All great dips have cream cheese. You just can't go wrong! I could just eat cream cheese actually...damn, maybe I do have a problem!?
I've been meaning to put this up for quite awhile, and have written down the ingredients with the intention of blogging it, but then bringing it to a party and not taking the pictures before we ate it all. Because, every time I have made this dip...it gets devoured immediately. Plus, I hate being that jerk that is taking food pictures while at a party. It's like that girl in the corner taking selfies while in a room full of her friends. Kind of embarrassing and just not cool.
Back to-The Dip. I just made this for a Super Bowl party and remembered how effing awesome it is. Yes, effing. So, I thought to bring it to our "ladies night" last weekend. Somehow while juggling the tough task of sipping homemade sangria (recipe will be up soon), I was able to photograph it. Thankfully, the girls walked out of the room just as I was taking it out of the oven and was able to snap away a few guilt-free pics.
Serves: 5 Hungry Ladies
Ingredients:
2 Packages of ROOM TEMPERATURE Cream Cheese (non of that low fat crap)
2 TBS Olive Oil
1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Dried Oregano
1 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
About 1 Cup Pizza Sauce
2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 Cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
Miscellaneous veggies for your "Pizza Toppings"
(I like to clear out everything that is laying around in the fridge that I need to use up STAT)
Bag of Tortilla Chips
Non Food Kitchen Items Needed:
Pam or some other non-stick Spray
1 1/2 Qt Baking Dish
Take the room temp cream cheese and dump it into a food processor. If you don't have one, no worries, but it really does make it a hell of a lot easier. Process till smooth. Add the Olive Oil, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Mix real well. Spray the entire casserole dish with Pam. This will help with clean up later on. Press herb mixed cream cheese in bottom
Then add pizza sauce.
Top with Cheeses.
Top with Veggies. I'll use whatever I have on hand. This time I used, tomatoes, red onion, green onion, mushrooms, and bell pepper. Pour a little more olive oil on top of veggies.
I like to let the dip sit for a minimum of an hour before baking to let the herbs really mingle. Ideally, you'll want to let it sit for 3 hours. Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven till bubbly. Approximately, 30-40 minutes depending on your oven.
Serve with tortilla chips and sangria!
Enjoy!!!
